Nick's Radio Interview
This interview took place on October 28, 1999 on Mix 93.3 in Kansas City.
JJ: Matt, this better be Nick Carter. Ladies, Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys on Mix 93.3
Matt: Nick?
Nick: Wassup?
Matt: Hey what's up, Nick?
Nick: What's going on dude?
Matt: Hey it's Matt Mitchell and The JJ on Mix 93.3 in Kansas City.
Nick: Good to talk to ya man.
Matt: How are ya?
Nick: Good.
Matt: Where are you right now?
Nick: Um, Utah.
Matt: Show tonight?
Nick: Yup.
JJ: Nick, first of all, rumors, and I try to keep my listeners away from them and tell them not to believe what they hear on the internet, but rumor on the internet is that you're now single, is that true?
Nick: Right, yeah, actually, right, right now, yes I'm single. Yeah, so, so what does this stuff on the internet say?
JJ: The internet is saying that you're single.
Nick: Yeah, just broke up with my girlfriend like two, three months ago.
JJ: Really? Are you okay?
Nick: Yeah I'm straight. I'm, I'm cool.
JJ: Kinda like your first love? Is this your first heartbreak?
Nick: Yeah, I'd, I'd probably say so, yeah.
JJ: But you're okay?
Nick: Yeah, I'm straight.
JJ: What would make you feel better Nick?
Nick: Right now, just, at least now that I have, ya know, all the guys and everything...See, a lot of it had to do with just, ya know, trying, just trying to concentrate on everything and it was hard to take care of, ya know, a relationship. And then, like we say it all the time, ya know, relationships are like, the hardest thing you can, ya know, get into when you, when you're trying to do something like this. Ya know what I'm saying?
JJ: Yeah.
Nick: Always traveling, and ya know, it was, it was just a very difficult thing. Right now, I, I couldn't deal with that aspect of it right now.
JJ: And be on the road and everything.
Nick: Yeah.
JJ: Well hopefully then maybe when you're off the road and everything, then maybe you can hook back up with her? Because it sounds like she was someone very special to you?
Nick: She was something, someone very special to me, and ya know it was just right now the time for everybody to chill and just do their own thing, I guess you want to say.
Matt: Hey Nick, how often do you get the booty call?
Nick: The booty call?
Matt: Yeah, what's up with the booty call, baby?
Nick: (Suprised) Say what?
Matt: (Laughing)
Nick: (Laughing) You all are killin' me!
Matt: Come on Nick, I know you get the booty call.
Nick: No comment.
Matt: How many times you got to change your cell tel number?
Nick: Ya know what? THat's why they invented the, the phrase, 'no comment'...
Matt: Oh, you got the send no number turned off on your cell tel so you got the private number going and the pager and the cell tel and the booty call going on a lot. That's okay man, I can answer the question for ya!
Nick and JJ: (Laughing)
Matt: I know what it's like to be a rock star, or in my own mind.
JJ: He's just a little jealous, Nick, cause he gets no booty calls.
Nick: (Laughing)
Matt: That's right.
JJ: Did you work out the kinks with the flying rountine cause I heard some lucky people in Phoenix got to see Kevin's behind in person.
Nick: Yeah, they, they saw Kevin's behind.
JJ: So did you guys work it out or is there a chance in Kansas...?
Nick: Yeah, we, we worked it out. I mean, see the thing is, things go wrong, things happen, and ya know, that, that's the scary part about it.
JJ: Well, good thing it's just the clothes coming off. I mean, we'd rather...
Nick: Yeah, I know, I mean, he got hung up there for quite awhile...
Matt and JJ: (Laughing)
JJ: That's not funny!
Nick: It just stopped, (Laughs), ya know, so...
JJ: It's not funny, but, oh, I can imagine the fans in Phoenix are like still dreaming about it.
Nick: (Laughing) They, I'm sure!
JJ: Are you guys still giving him a hard time?
Nick: No, not anymore.
JJ: No?
Nick: The first three, er the couple shows after we did, but not anymore.
JJ: You're all done.
Nick: Ya know what I'm saying?
JJ: I like that, I like that in you. Okay, I gotta know, any suprises for the ladies this tour? I know last tour I wasn't one of the lucky ladies to get a rose, but (sniff) you guys did throw out roses.
Nick: There are a couple suprises.
JJ: Really?
Nick: We fly over the audience like I told you guys and...
JJ: Are you guys bringing anyone up on stage?
Nick: Ugh, we bring mothers and daughters up on stage now.
JJ: So, I have to bring my mom to the tour?
Nick: (Laughing)
JJ: I have to bring my mother to the concert November 18th so I can get up on stage?
Nick: Oh my goodness (starts laughing)
JJ: Come on!
Nick: I don't know, see, security helps us pick them out.
JJ: So, I need to flirt with the security guy? Is that what you're telling me?
Nick: (Laughing) Uh oh! Do I got to warn them about ya?
JJ: (Laughing) Uh huh!
Matt: Hey Nick, this is Matt again. There is this big rumor around town in Kansas City that all the hotels are booked on November 18th (Nick coughs in background) cause everyone is coming to Kansas City to see you, so if you guys need a place to stay, you can come over to my place and play some Sony Playstation, that's just the rumor though.
Nick: What day is it again?
JJ: It's a Thursday.
Matt: November 18th.
Nick: Cause I was going to say, man, I would come over and watch some football.
Matt: Yeah! Hook ya up man, cause I got Play Station, DVD, bring over some fly honies, drink some brew...
Nick: (Laughing)
JJ: That's the only way he'll get some fly honies, is if you come over.
Nick: Awww.
JJ: It's okay, he's been using this for awhile.
Matt: Cause I figure your pick up line is I'm Carter (???) and that gets the women over, right?
Nick: (Laughing)
JJ: You don't even have to say anything, do ya Nick?
Nick: Like I said, no comment!
Matt and JJ: (Laughing)
JJ: Want to tell ya, November 18th, all the ladies of Kansas City (Nick Coughs in Background) are you ready and we are hunting down security guards, believe you me! Thank you very much Nick.
Nick: No problem!
